Our Working Cockers
Our dogs are not chosen to fill a catalogue. Each has a precise place in our story and in our breeding programme: through ancestry, natural ability, intelligence, temperament and the relationship each dog builds with people.
We value pedigrees that tell a story, but we value even more the dogs that confirm, in the field and in everyday life, what those origins led us to expect.
We select individuals, not simply names on a pedigree.
Ancestry gives us a direction. The field reveals ability. Everyday life reveals balance. It is this complete picture that gives meaning to each of our dogs and to the matings we plan.
A genealogical story
We look for coherent, well-documented British working lines in which functional selection can be read clearly across several generations.
What the dog actually expresses
Nose, search, retrieve, intelligence, willingness to cooperate and efficiency: a pedigree never replaces observing the real dog.
The dog within the family
We place as much importance on closeness to people, stability and the ability to live as part of a family as we do on qualities shown in the field.
Different personalities, the same level of expectation.
Some impress us with their nose, others with speed, intelligence, retrieve or the particular gentleness they reveal within the family. None can be reduced to a single trait. These portraits are not a catalogue of breeding dogs: they tell the story of what each one brings to our lives, our dogs and our breeding decisions.
BlackBerry Beauty
Hattie has so much of what we love in a Working Cocker: an almost instinctive retrieve, an excellent nose and genuine gentleness in everyday life. Extremely close to her family, she naturally combines effectiveness in the field with an affectionate presence at home.
Danderw Penny
Penny carries an exceptional pedigree: both her sire and dam are FTCH, and some of the finest British working bloodlines appear throughout her ancestry. In the field this is expressed through remarkable search and a natural retrieve. With her family she is every bit as exceptional: close, generous and deeply endearing.
Breckmarsh Olivia
One of our most recent imports. Grace is lively, joyful and spontaneous — a remarkable concentration of qualities. She has that positive energy, pleasure in doing and presence that immediately makes you want to work with her.
Apeford Firefly
Fran is all subtlety: gentle, discreet, almost reserved at first sight. Then work reveals quick intelligence and remarkable efficiency. She achieves a great deal without unnecessary fuss, with a natural accuracy that makes her particularly endearing.
Breckmarsh Fi
Very small in frame, enormous in energy. Fi is quick, committed and remarkably efficient. In a compact package she concentrates much of what we love about the Working Cocker: intensity, drive and effectiveness.
Kenzduo All Is Bright
Psycho lives for interaction with her handler. Passionate about play and retrieving, she has a genuine desire to do things together. Her enthusiasm never replaces the relationship: it strengthens it.
Holly
Compact in size, full of energy and highly engaged. Holly shows excellent aptitude for scent detection as well as shooting work, with liveliness, a strong desire to search and real availability in action.
Fudge
Fudge has the kind of relentless persistence that becomes a real quality in the field. Focused, tenacious and methodical, she does not give up a line easily: a genuine gem when shooting.
Cornermarsh Ginger
Pep brings together presence, efficiency and liveliness. A striking dog to look at, generous in action and with a huge heart, he expresses the combination of functional ability and closeness to people that we seek in our lines.
In the field as in his relationships, he gives a great deal: lively and effective, yet always deeply affectionate.
That is why we never make decisions on the basis of a name, colour or title in isolation. We look for coherence between generations, the dog in front of us and what that dog may bring to the next.
What we look at before planning a mating.
Every dog brings a different combination. The purpose of a breeding programme is not to produce identical dogs, but to understand the strengths, complementarities and points requiring attention in each individual.
Our choices are built from that individual assessment: preserving the authenticity of British working lines without losing balance, closeness to people or the ability to share genuine family life.
Our dogs tell the story of how we breed.
Documented British origins, very different personalities and one common aim: to preserve the qualities of the genuine Working Cocker while selecting dogs that are balanced, intelligent and deeply connected to people.
